Illustration & Lettering

Specifically any illustration/lettering that doesn't also fit into any other category. So...a selection of pieces from my shop, Rosewater Creative.

Please excuse the compression and watermarks. My designs have been counterfeited from high quality photos in the past.

"Forbidden Nectar"

Inspired by a dark time in which I thought I had become lactose intolerant. Sort of the foil to the "Cheese Queen" design. Though I know some people to whom both of these concepts could simultaneously apply...

"No Spoons Left; Only Knives"

An homage to a classic American Traditional tattoo visual, but referencing Spoon Theory. I can't take credit for coining this particular phrase, but this is my interpretation of it.

"bruh."

This goopy, drippy, contrasty lettering is very unlike most of my designs. I wanted to explore something new—and I wound up being quite fond of what came out! The drips in particular were so satisfying to draw.

"Korok Protection Society"

Inspired by The Legend of Zelda, particularly Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom—and a desire to shield those cute little forest creatures that so many other players seem eager to torment!

"Pomegranate Princess"

Dainty lettering accented with lots of swirly ornamentation contrasts with an intentionally imperfect, stylized pomegranate rendered in a style echoing traditional Persian art.

"Sometimes It Is A Zebra"

An artistic expression of frustration over how difficult it can be to receive adequate medical care when you have a condition that's considered "rare," in reference to the old adage about hoofbeats and horses. The zebra has been adopted as a symbol for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome in particular.

"Cheese Queen"

I am not usually one for lots of tiny details in my art, but carving out all those little cheese-holes was almost a meditative experience. Nice to know I'm at least capable of such tiny details when the occasion calls for it!

"All Hail the Algorithm"

Inspired by my stint as a TikTok creator, this sentiment was never totally sincere to begin with, but it's become significantly more sarcastic since I became disillusioned with and almost completely removed myself from social media.

"We Are Made of Star-Stuff"

It seemed only natural to pair this classic Carl Sagan quote with Animal Crossing's Celeste, the astronomically-inclined owl. Playful, lightly ornamented lettering brings the quote to life in her sparkling eyes.
